Writer

Past, Current, and Future Scripts

I consider myself a dramatist or a dramatic writer. So, my goal isn't just to tell stories, but to dramatize them. There is no separation between plot and character. Character is behavior. And behavior is a way of acting. And it all comes full circle with my acting.

It all started many years ago, when my drama teacher, Carla, gently pushed me away from acting towards writing. At first, I was offended. I was supposed to be the Filipino James Dean after all (Yeah, I was still in my angsty early 20s). It wasn't until later that she wanted more autonomy for me. If you want your voice heard, then write, especially in the theater.

The problem was that I didn't really have a voice back then. I hadn't lived enough. I wanted to be heard, but I had nothing to say. That's one of the pros of getting older. I definitely have a voice now.
